Blog Post #4-Raising Awareness

Week 4 and 5 were some of the easiest weeks of this project. I had gotten used to my shortened showers and not having to rush in in the mornings made me more conscious of my goal. These weeks were mainly just a continuation of what I had been doing and not much was different. A timer was still present to keep me in check but I found myself finishing even before it went off. The main way I would try to convince others in my family is to educate them on waters impact the environment and its cost per gallon. There is a lot of information I learned while doing this project and I believe that is the best way to have others adopt my behaviors. Along with being more knowledgable about the subject, this also has the benefit of having them critically think about the water they're using. This provided me with the motivation to stick to my goal. Taking a 7-minute shower may seem short, but it's not hard to enforce on yourself. Money can be a great motivator for many. Advertising

Blog Post #3 - Midpoint Reflection

Reflection on the 3rd week So week 3, how did it go? This week was more of a success than the second but still had its failures. My biggest struggle this week was with the busses. Due to the nature of transportation, if I didn't leave by a specific time, then I would be late. There were a couple of days where I wasn't able to catch the bus and had to be driven to school. "But what about my efforts to save water?" I hear you ask curiously. Well, I was pretty consistent this week and was able to take a 7 min shower every day this week which made me feel like I'd finally accomplished something.  To help remind me about my time limit, I had posted post-it notes all over the bathroom and on my bedroom door and I found them to be pretty effective in reminding me on what I needed to do. Siri was also very helpful as I could just yell at her and it would set a timer for me. If the project ended today, how likely do you think you'd be to continue? if

Week 2 1) Reflection on the 2nd week - So week 2, how did it go? This week was more of a success than the second but still had its failures. My biggest struggle this week was with the busses. Week 1

Week 1      So the first week went, in short, alright. The first day I forgot that I had to take a 7 min shower until it had already been 10 min, so that was a failure. But on the bright side, I also didn't get to take the bus to school because I had "woken up too late", according to my mom, so two things went wrong on the first day! The rest of the week I completed my task of taking a 7 min shower, I even accounted for the time it took me to get in the shower. Although I wasn't able to take the bus home at all this week, I don't think it was that detrimental to my actual carbon footprint because my mom and I drive the same way to and I don't weigh 250 pounds.      But how much am I saving with my endeavors? The difference now is that my mom drives me to school every day but our routes are not very different so the difference in my carbon footprint would be negligible. In addition to taking the bus I am reducing my showers to 7 min. Since I take a
